Data cabling and fibre optics across Kent

Devices work better hardwired. Hidden cables round the house or property, data points for businesses, fault calls fixed, and fibre optics connecting buildings no matter how far apart.

Cat6, Cat6a or fibre?

Set the distance and see what we would run

The right cable depends mostly on how far it has to go. Slide to the longest run in your job.

30 metres
Recommended
Cat6

Copper structured cabling is limited to 100 metres per run by the standard. Fibre has no practical limit for a home or a business site.

Cabling services

From a single data point behind the TV to a full office fit out.

Home data cabling

Cat6 points behind the TV, in the office, the loft and the garden room, run back to a small cabinet or cupboard.

Office and business data points

Structured cabling for desks, meeting rooms and comms rooms, with patch panels, cabinets and a labelled schedule.

Fibre optics

Fibre between buildings, across yards and into cabinets. Spliced, tested and labelled at each end.

Access point cabling

Cat6 to ceiling access points so the WiFi runs at full speed in every part of the building.

Camera cabling

PoE cabling for CCTV cameras and doorbells so they run on one cable with no separate power supply.

Fault calls and repairs

Broken sockets, damaged runs and unknown cables identified, tested and repaired or replaced.

Anything that does not move should be on a cable

WiFi is for phones and laptops. TVs, consoles, desktops, cameras and access points should be on a cable: faster, more reliable, and it does not care how many people are streaming. CNCI certified and Fluke tested, every run.

  • Hidden cables round the house or property to connect all devices
  • Data points for businesses
  • Fault calls taken and fixed
  • Fibre optics connecting buildings to each other, no matter how far apart
  • Cat6, Cat6a and single or multi mode fibre, terminated and Fluke tested
  • Patch panels, cabinets and switches installed neatly and labelled

Why the labelling matters

Every cable ends in a cabinet like this

Every run is numbered at both ends, patched to a panel and tested. When a socket stops working in five years, whoever opens the cabinet finds it in seconds.

The process

How a cabling job works

  1. 01

    Survey

We look at the routes, the building construction and where the points need to be. For commercial jobs, a plan is drawn up.

  2. 02

    Quote

A fixed price per point or per project, including making good and testing.

  3. 03

    Install

Cables run, terminated and labelled. Faceplates fitted, cabinet built, everything tidy.

  4. 04

    Test and certify

Every run tested with a Fluke tester. Results supplied on request. Then a walk through of what is where.

Jargon, explained

Cabling terms without the jargon

Cat6
The standard network cable for homes. Runs up to 90 metres and carries power to cameras and access points on the same cable.
Cat6a
A shielded version for busy offices and 10Gbps over the full 100 metres.
Fibre
Glass, not copper. No distance limit that matters for a home or business site. Spliced and tested at each end.
Patch panel
Where every cable in the building ends, labelled, in the cabinet.
Fluke test
A certified tester that proves each run meets the standard. You get the results.
PoE
Power over Ethernet. One cable carries data and power to a camera or access point.

Data cabling and fibre optics questions

Cat6 or Cat6a?

Cat6 handles 1Gbps over any run length in a normal house and 10Gbps over short runs, which is plenty for almost every home. Cat6a is worth it for offices, long runs and anywhere you want 10Gbps everywhere. We will recommend based on the building rather than upselling.

Can you run cables without making a mess?

Yes. We route through lofts, voids, cavities and behind skirting where we can, and where we have to chase or drill we make good afterwards. You will be told exactly where cables will run before we start.

Do you do fibre between buildings?

Yes. Single mode or multi mode fibre run in duct or armoured cable between a house and an outbuilding, or between units on a site, then spliced and terminated at both ends. It is the right answer for anything over 90 metres.

What does data cabling cost?

Domestic points are priced per point including the faceplate and testing. Commercial jobs are priced per point or per project after a survey, with a day count.

Can you fix a network socket that stopped working?

Yes. It is usually a damaged cable or a poor termination. We will test the run, find the fault and repair or replace it, normally in one visit.

Do you do call outs?

Yes. In normal business hours, Monday to Saturday 7am to 6pm, a call out is £75 plus £30 an hour. Out of hours, 7pm to 6am and all day Sunday, it is £95 plus £40 an hour. Free quotes are separate and carry no charge.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. Free quotes within two business days, with the warranty for each system stated in the quote.
